Problem Statement and Solution Architecture

Operational Need

The Problem & Constraints

Coordinating daily institutional transport across dozens of universities, hundreds of route stops, multi-run vehicle dispatches (e.g., Run A, B, C schedules), and thousands of student installment payments created immense operational friction when tracked on disconnected spreadsheets.

Delivered Architecture

The Engineering Solution

Engineered a unified operations web application featuring multi-tier Role-Based Access Control (Owner, Manager, Operations Manager, Finance, Cashier, Student), an automated tenure rollover engine, multi-run vehicle dispatch boards, and mobile-friendly QR pass verification.

System Architecture & Operational Workflow

React 19 & TypeScript frontend built with Vite and Ant Design 6, communicating via a REST API with a modular NestJS 12 backend connected to a serverless Neon PostgreSQL database via TypeORM.

Step 01

Student Registration & Approval

Students register with institutional ID and route stop; manager verifies enrollment and assigns tenure.

Step 02

Multi-Run Allocation

System maps student stops to optimal bus runs (e.g. R02-A vs R02-B), balancing passenger loads across fleets.

Step 03

QR Pass Generation & Boarding

Student portal generates dynamic QR boarding pass; bus conductors scan for route verification.

Step 04

Installment & Expense Reconciliation

Finance team logs fee receipts, tracks partial installment dues, and audits daily fuel/maintenance vouchers.

Key Subsystems & Functional Modules

Detailed breakdown of core software components, algorithms, and automated interfaces engineered for this project.

Multi-Run Dispatch Scheduling

Real-time dashboard for assigning drivers and buses to specific campus departure slots.

Academic Tenure Rollover

Automated data migration tool moving active student records into new semesters while retaining historical payment ledgers.

QR Digital Boarding Pass

Dynamic mobile pass with anti-screenshot security stamps and stop verification.

Role-Enforced Financial Ledgers

Multi-account accounting supporting fee installments, vendor payables, and cashier daily reconciliation.

Engineering Contribution

  • Full-stack engineering including database schema design, NestJS domain modules, Ant Design operations dashboard UI, JWT/trusted-device session security, and multi-run route allocation algorithms.

Validation & Testing Evidence

  • Tested with multi-tenure operational data; validated role-based route guards and SQL transaction safety during semester rollover operations; deployed in active daily production on www.usamatransport.org.

Technical Scope Transparency & Future Roadmap

TrustByte adheres to rigorous engineering ethics. We explicitly delineate verified production features from simulated models, proposed future integrations, or hardware constraints:

  • Real-time GPS vehicle tracking currently operates via manual dispatch coordination; automated IoT cellular telematics integration is slated for future firmware cycles. Real operational and student identity data is strictly sanitized in public case studies.
